“Любознашки” — Russian Through Play | Ages 5–6

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

“Любознашки” is the advanced preschool level of our Russian Through Play program. It combines active Russian-language development with structured, age-appropriate learning and prepares children for the more academic language work they will encounter at the next stage.

At this age, children are ready not only for richer vocabulary and longer conversations, but also for more complex ideas. They learn to listen carefully, understand and discuss information, follow a sequence of events, explain cause and effect, express an opinion and retell stories in their own words.

Throughout the year, children explore a wide range of themes connected with nature and the world around us, seasons and changes in nature, animals and their habitats, the human body and health, professions, transportation, our city and community, space and planets, countries and cultures, holidays and traditions, time and the calendar, emotions and relationships, safety, and other age-appropriate topics.

The program incorporates carefully selected Russian-language workbooks, educational books, picture-based learning materials, vocabulary and logic activities, tabletop educational games and other age-appropriate learning resources. Children complete workbook pages and structured assignments that develop language while also strengthening attention, memory, reasoning and the ability to work independently.

HOW WE LEARN

Learning combines structured work with Russian-language educational materials and workbooks with conversation, stories, educational games, role play, creative activities, poems, songs and movement.

Children complete age-appropriate workbook pages and language tasks, work with pictures and stories, answer questions, describe and compare, establish sequences and connections, discuss new information and retell what they have learned or read.

New vocabulary is introduced within meaningful themes and then reinforced through different types of activities, allowing children to understand words in context and use them naturally in increasingly complex speech.

As children progress, they are encouraged to give more detailed answers, formulate their thoughts independently, explain their reasoning and use Russian not only for everyday conversation, but also as a language for learning, thinking and discovering the world around them.
