ABOUT THE CLASS

This class brings Russian language and literature together, helping students become stronger readers while developing richer and more expressive Russian.

Children read age-appropriate literary texts and learn to look beyond the basic plot. They discuss characters, motivations, important events and the ideas behind a story. They practice finding information in a text, explaining their answers and supporting their opinions with what they have read.

Vocabulary and language development remain an important part of the course. New words and expressions are explored in context so that students can understand them and begin using them naturally in their own speech.

WHAT CHILDREN DEVELOP

  • Stronger and more fluent Russian reading
  • Reading comprehension
  • Broader vocabulary
  • Understanding of characters and events

HOW WE LEARN

Students read, discuss, answer questions, explore vocabulary and think about the choices and actions of literary characters. They are encouraged to ask their own questions and express different points of view.

The class makes literature an active conversation rather than simply a reading assignment, strengthening both language and independent thinking.
