This continuing Russian language and literature class is designed for students ready to engage more thoughtfully with Russian texts and express increasingly detailed ideas about what they read.
Students work on comprehension, vocabulary and interpretation while discussing stories, characters, relationships, choices and events. They learn to distinguish important details, follow the development of a text and explain their understanding in their own words.
Literature provides a natural setting for expanding Russian vocabulary and developing more precise, expressive speech.
Students interact actively with texts through reading, discussion, questions, retelling, vocabulary work and interpretation.
Rather than looking only for a single “correct” answer, children are encouraged to think about why events happen, why characters behave as they do and how different readers may understand the same situation.
