This class gives children an opportunity to explore both two-dimensional and three-dimensional art while developing their own creative voice.
Through drawing and sculpture, students learn to look more carefully at shape, form, proportion, space and composition. They discover how an idea can begin as an observation or an image in the imagination and gradually develop into a finished work.
The emphasis is not on making every child’s work look the same. Children are encouraged to make choices, experiment, solve visual problems and become more confident expressing their own ideas through art.
Children explore artistic ideas through drawing, sculpture, observation and creative problem-solving.
The process encourages students to look, imagine, plan, create and reflect on their work while discovering that there can be many successful ways to express an idea visually.
