SINGAPORE MATH · U.S. EDITION

BUILD STRONG THINKERS, NOT JUST GOOD CALCULATORS

Our English-language mathematics classes follow the Singapore Math U.S. Edition approach, internationally known for building a strong foundation in mathematical thinking.

Children learn to understand why a solution works—not simply memorize formulas. Through visual models, mental math, logical reasoning and problem-solving, students learn to break complex problems into manageable steps and approach mathematics with confidence.

The program progresses from concrete understanding to visual representation and finally to abstract mathematical thinking, helping students develop skills they can apply far beyond the classroom.

ABOUT THE CLASS

This class builds a strong beginning foundation in mathematics by helping children understand numbers and mathematical relationships rather than relying only on memorized procedures.

Students are encouraged to see mathematics visually, recognize patterns, think about different ways to approach a problem and explain how they reached an answer. The emphasis is on understanding the reasoning behind a solution and developing confidence with mathematical thinking.

As children work with increasingly challenging ideas, they learn to move from concrete understanding to visual representation and then toward more abstract mathematical reasoning.

WHAT CHILDREN DEVELOP

  • Strong number sense
  • Mental math skills
  • Understanding of mathematical relationships
  • Visual problem-solving strategies
  • Logical reasoning
  • Ability to recognize patterns
  • Ability to explain mathematical thinking
  • Confidence approaching unfamiliar problems

HOW WE LEARN

Students explore mathematical ideas through clear explanations, visual models, guided reasoning and problem-solving.

Children are encouraged to think before calculating, compare possible approaches and explain why a solution makes sense.
