ABOUT THE CLASS

Chess introduces children to a game in which every move is a decision. Students learn to look carefully at the board, consider possibilities and think about what may happen next before making a move.

As children become more comfortable with chess, they begin to recognize patterns, plan ahead and understand the relationship between their own decisions and an opponent’s response. The game naturally encourages concentration, patience and thoughtful problem-solving.

The goal is not simply to play more games, but to help children become more observant and strategic thinkers while developing confidence at the chessboard.

WHAT CHILDREN DEVELOP

  • Concentration and attention
  • Logical and strategic thinking
  • Planning ahead
  • Pattern recognition

HOW WE LEARN

Students learn through guided chess play, analysis of positions, questions and opportunities to think through possible moves.

Children are encouraged to slow down, observe carefully and explain the reasoning behind their decisions, turning each game into an exercise in thoughtful problem-solving.
